6^th New Energy Husum: 18 - 21 March
The main focuses at this exhibition are: solar energy, bioenergy, geothermal energy, small wind turbines, electromobility, energy advice, how to integrate energy saving into new builds, and also financial advice. New Energy Husum is an international trade fair for the uses of renewable energy sources.
The slogan for this fair is: Look Ahead – Think Ahead!


Special topic: Small wind turbines

With over 50 international exhibitors from the small wind turbine sector and several talks and presentations on all four days of the fair*, this year’s New Energy Husum can already be seen as the most important small wind turbine event in the world.
For the industry, New Energy Husum is Europe’s leading small wind turbine trade fair.


Congress and side events: significantly expanded congress programme

On all four days of the fair there will be daily informational events for various target groups in three conference rooms (compared with just two at New Energy 2009:) at the fair site. These will provide useful energy tips and financial advice for homeowners and families building their own houses. Business owners will be able to find out about energy efficiency measures they can implement in their businesses. There will also be information and discussion events on the domestic and international market importance of small wind turbines, and about all aspects of their installation and use:

• 3rd German Wind Energy Association Small Wind Turbine Symposium, 20 and 21 Marchz


Special topic: Energy supply for local authority regions

The future of energy supply: climate protection innovations as a benefit to rural communities is the topic of an event at New Energy Husum on 19 and 20 March, that will not just be of great interest to local authority politicians and representatives. This event will also present technical possibilities, especially those offered by intelligent system combinations, and the current legal framework governing the use of renewable energy supply, especially in rural areas.

Electromobility and renewable energy:
Be mobile without CO2 and nuclear power

In the special Electromobility exhibition area in Exhibition Hall 3, New Energy Husum will be exhibiting modern electric vehicles, some of which are being shown in northern Germany for the very first time. These electric cars can also be given a test drive on the track at the entrance to the fair.
The programme of talks on 21 March will deal with rural and urban transport concepts, present new generations of vehicles, and show how regenerative energy sources can already be used for transport.


Exhibitors

The latest products for renewable electricity and heating generation will be shown by 250 exhibitors from 14 countries (2009: 148 exhibitors from 3 countries) representing the whole range of the renewable energy sector.
Exhibitors from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Spain, Lithuania, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Korea, India, the USA and China will be showcasing their innovations for the use of all kinds of renewable energy.

In 2010 we are expecting over 16,000 visitors from all over the world.
(2009: 15,500 visitors).
This number of visitors makes New Energy Husum the best-visited event of its kind in Germany. 60 percent of the visitors are trade visitors.

Definition of small wind turbines

There are currently various definitions of what a small wind turbine is.
New Energy Husum is a showcase for exhibitors of small wind turbines with an installed capacity of 1 - 500 kilowatts.

The German Wind Energy Association defines small wind turbines as those having an installed capacity of up to 100 kilowatts. These are however only small in relation to large-scale industrial wind turbines. For domestic use the upper limit for wind turbines would be about 30 kW; this is also the limit defined in the German Renewable Energy Act.

A definition of small wind turbines is also given in IEC NORM 61400-2:2006 (design requirements for small wind turbines). According to this standard, small wind turbines are those whose swept area is less than 200 square metres at 350 W/m2. This gives a maximum output of 70 kW. The tower is usually no higher than 20 m. Most of the popular brands currently have a rated capacity of between 5 and 10 kW.
